Social work is very closely linked to the environment of organized modernity, the concept of the world that uses when constructing its theories and methods. Therefore, it entered a precarious situation when organized modernity transitioned into a qualitatively different modernity stage. Although different authors we cite herein (Beck, 2004, Bauman, 2002, Keller, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014) name it differently, e.g. post-industrial modern, reflexive or liquid modernity, they have each identified a number of features and processes that distinguish it from organized modernity.
A reflection of this situation and the modification of existing concepts and methods of social work, which will be reflected in the training of social workers, seems a logical consequence of the changes in the environment in which social work operates.
The chapter aims to answer the question whether education in social work in the Czech Republic critically reflects the changes in society. Using quantitative content analysis (Gavora, 2010), we will research whether the academic texts and university curricula educating social workers critically reflect the changes in society.
The theory of modernisation by Beck, Bauman, and Keller is theoretical grounds for the analysis.
